COURSE 1

GWO Blade maintenance
and repair course:

Fully accredited by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO), this course teaches delegates how to inspect and repair common damage caused by erosion, stress, lightning strikes, bird strike and cracks to bring a blade back to its aerodynamic form.

Delivered by our expert trainer with over 25 years international experience in the wind energy industry, delegates will be trained to conduct repair work in accordance with a work instruction within the following dimensions:

Trailing edge repairs up to 1.5m
Leading edge repairs up to 1.5m
Laminate repairs down to core material
Core material replacement up to 200cm²
Surface repair to paint and gelcoat

Successful completion will be assessed throughout using practical exercises and questions.

CONTENT:

General safety (introduction, safety data sheet, work instruction, risk assessment, secure an area, contamination, waste segregation, ergonomic and lock out tag out)
Personal protective equipment (PPE, masks and filters)
Chemical safety, composites and blade construction, materials, tools and equipment, phase test
Technical skills including blade inspection, lightning protection, grinding skills, sanding, laminate repairs, filling, surface repairs, trailing edge repairs, sandwich panel repairs, bond line repairs and painting.
